The Commutative Algebra Reading Seminar (CARS) is an opportunity for graduate students at UNL to learn more about commutative algebra together. In contrast to CAS, this seminar is ran by graduate students, for graduate students. Each week a graduate student volunteers to give a talk. These talks often are on general background in commutative algebra, are about their current research, or cover research papers.

• Learn about commutative algebra
• Foster a sense of community within the commutative algebra research area
• Practice delivering research talks in a friendly environment

Social Events

• Groups of grad students will work together, meeting outside of the normal weekly time, to prepare series of talks on longer research papers or chapters from textbooks
• Graduate students at UNL are on the organizing committee for URiCA
